ASPIRE!
An Original Musical by Jackie Murray
What happens when a child with a dream is surrounded by people who have forgotten how to dream?
Set in the 1970s, Aspire! is an original family musical about encouragement, fear, and the courage it takes to become who you were meant to be.
At the center of the story is Aspire, a child whose dreams are challenged by the fears and limitations of the adults around her. Through humor, family, and original music, Aspire! explores what can happen when someone finally says, “I believe in you.”
FROM PAGE TO STAGE
Aspire! took its first steps from script to stage with a staged reading, giving audiences an early look at the characters, story, humor, and music while the production continues its development journey.
THE MUSIC OF ASPIRE!
An original score written for the story.
Music is at the heart of Aspire!, carrying the characters through moments of hope, conflict, humor, fear, and discovery.
Featured songs include:
Bird Afraid of Heights
The musical's anchor song and central metaphor for having the ability to soar while being afraid to try.
