HARRIET TUBMAN: ONE WOMAN'S JOURNEY

Performances That Inspire and Transform

History brought to life through story, music, and performance.

Written and performed by Jackie Murray, Harriet Tubman: One Woman's Journey is an original one-woman production that brings audiences into the extraordinary life of Harriet Tubman through dramatic storytelling, historical interpretation, and music.

Rather than simply recounting dates and events, Jackie invites audiences to experience Harriet as a woman of courage, intelligence, faith, determination, and humanity.

From her escape from slavery and repeated journeys along the Underground Railroad to her service as a nurse, scout, and spy during the Civil War, the production explores the many dimensions of the woman remembered as Moses.

HISTORY THAT CONNECTS

Designed for audiences of all ages, One Woman's Journey makes history personal and accessible.

For student audiences, the program creates opportunities to explore slavery, literacy, freedom, courage, and the choices ordinary people make in extraordinary circumstances. Through stories such as that of six-year-old Nathan, audiences encounter the human consequences of laws that prohibited enslaved people from learning to read and write.

Music is woven throughout the performance, connecting the story to the spiritual traditions that carried messages, hope, faith, and resistance.
